With a Bachelor of Science majoring in Computer Science, Matthew has a strong interest in self-guided research into computer security topics, including hypervisor and virtual machine security, vulnerability search (fuzzing), and exploit development (both web and native).

His expertise in information security has led him to find many critical vulnerabilities in both open-source and commercial software, handling both the patch development and disclosure process.

As Aura’s Principal Research Consultant, Matthew oversees the team’s research development programme. All consultants at Aura dedicate up to 20 percent of their time to research which enables them to keep ahead of the curve when identifying and exposing new vulnerabilities. He has presented at several local and international community conferences including 31c0n, OWASP New Zealand, Black Hat and DEF CON.
